My new calling.....

Today, I teared because I met people who made me realize the true meaning of kindness....then I cried some more for what I've learned about a genuinely kind man.

It's been a good start so far..My car rental took me straight to the heart of the tribal lands of the inland empire. it was almost like a dream of being in a movie located in the lands of poverty. I was determined to do a kind deed today through my work.

I drove home smiling and feeling happy that my work has brought a bit of a different meaning into my life. It's only Tuesday and I've already done 5 trainings and presentations and booked some more today. My presentation last night brought in two extra presentations for next week. Although I sleep late and wake up at 5 am everyday because of anxiety; I am happier. I can't wait til January when everything should feel comfortable to me with this new job.

I saw two of my ex co-workers yesterday..they were happy to see me but I could feel their mood; it's the holidays but they are still unhappy. It might be the cold but it may be just of doing the same thing over and over again seeing lesser outcome.

I encountered the dilemma of choosing which non profit organization should funds go to for this contract period. I'm faced by politics, what's easier in terms of my job, but also of doing the right thing. I was browsing through partners from other regions and I saw how many just pick random organizations based on what's easiest to fulfill for their deliverable. I just can't. I'd rather do the extra work to know that the money is going to the right organization. I want to choose who could use the money and who's really passionate in making a difference in other people's lives.

I went to visit my 4th Catholic Charity organization this week. I was floored by the amount of expertise and passion that was on the table. Some drove 2 hours just to meet with me. Initially, I wanted to offer 5k and my generosity just flourished after two hours of spending time with them. I ended up promising them 15k but I plan to surprise them with a different figure of 25k by tomorrow :) They deserve it.

I went home to my uncle today...he made me lunch. I could barely make eye contact. I feel his pain but can't speak no word of compassion. How do you tell someone they will be ok with Cancer...I watched him feed his two dogs..his two kids he passionately love like they were his true children..I had to look away...I wanted to cry..but can't show no act of weakness. I really love my uncle. He's a good man...

2012 should be an interesting time.....
