I'm finally recovered from the wedding. I was tired and relieved that it was over. Time to refocus and get back into my self-reinvention.
After Laura's help last week, I wanted to do something nice for her. I picked her up for a day with my girl. It was a pleasant day...
It's amazing how life can change in a heartbeat. She used to come out of her door happy. Now it's almost like they are slaves in their own home because of her divorce. Her son has to jump the balcony and sneak in just to get into the house. With no phone, he has to text her via online to let her know she can come home. Her life is a mess and she's ready to give up the battle.
Yesterday, she decided that she's not going to ask for money from her husband. 15 million dollars and she doesn't even get a cent. She will let go of her kids. With no money and nothing to support them with, she decided that it was best for her to just give the kids to him so that they can have a better life. He even has full custody. I could feel her pain....knowing that she may never see them as much as she used to.
We spent the day teaching her to drive for the first time. With this she gained new strength. It felt good for both of us. We then had lunch at Brasserie Pascal and took a walk by the beach..holding each other...I wanted to let her know how much she means to me and how much I love her.
The lawyers made a decision today. We talked on the phone and I could hear her cry. I feel her pain. I could only imagine how it must be like to lose your children. In the background, I hear the kids playing and laughing...they don't really understand. They are too young..
It made me think about beginnings and endings. Last weekend, I was celebrating a beginning with my sisters and family for Sing and Andromeda's wedding. Now, I'm here with a friend to console her about the pain of what that same beginning brought to her life.
Stay strong, Brujilda. Change is good. Your kids will never forget.
I have a dr's appointment tomorrow to find out if I need to have surgery. I hope to hear good news.
This is collection of a few life lessons. I represent both someone who possess endless strengths and inconsolable sadness. You will see a woman who was made to feel shame for her desires and yet had the courage to pursue them anyway. At 23, I thought I found Elizabeth. Now at 35, I long to rediscover her again.
